UNIKO® TPEP®
The UNIKO® TPEP® therapy system is a unique and innovative gentle respiratory therapy device designed to assist individuals with obstructive airway disease or those individuals that may be vulnerable in the pre-operative and post-operative phase. UNIKO® not only assists in gentle secretion mobilisation but with the innovative FASTERJET® nebuliser, can also enhance drug deposition of a wide variety of medications.
UNIKO® applies a very low Positive Pressure of 1 cmH20 during the expiratory phase, which is removed before the patient completes their exhalation, thus creating an interaction with the airway at the lowest physiological levels of pressure.
The patient is taught gentle breathing exercises to use with the UNIKO® and supplied with a Single Use tubing kit with mouthpiece. By simply breathing gently through the system in a course of respiratory physiotherapy, patients have shown to improve their respiratory function and airway clearance results as well as express subjective improvements in their quality of life.
For those individuals that are respiratory compromised pre- and post-operatively, this gentle system has been studied to show improvements, whilst at the same time, avoiding airway clearance techniques that may be limited by pain or lung pathology complications.
For those patients that require consistent and gentle therapy, UNIKO® can reassure the clinician of its low risk whilst maintaining an effective adjunct to airway clearance.
